Mrs. Adlean Jordan

On February 11, 1925, a beautiful baby girl, Adlean Eli, was born to Melvin Eli and Beulah Washington in Clouterville, Louisiana. Adlean was the second child of three girls. Her two siblings were Irma Lee and Willie Mae Eli, both deceased. Adlean was educated in the state of Louisiana. While on the grounds of a church in Louisiana, it was just one look and a smile that stole both their hearts in a true “love at first sight” experience. In the year of their meeting, 1943, Adlean Eli and Wilbert Jordan, Sr. were joined in holy matrimony. She had met the man who would be her partner for life, until death parted them on January 2, 1995, when god called Superintendent Wilbert L. Jordan, Sr. to rest. To this union were born eleven (11) children – Vera, Frankie, Wilbert, Jr., Sandra, Priscilla and Prince Ella (Twin girls), Nathaniel, Michael, Sr., Gregory, Beulah, and Vincent. In addition to her own children, she raised four (4) of her grandchildren – Priscilla, Mark, Bridgette, and Lawrence, Jr. As a stay at home Mom, Adlean served as a salesperson for several distribution companies. In 1955, she became co-founder of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, for which the church building was constructed in 1974. She worked faithfully beside her husband in the ministry as a faithful, devoted, and loving wife for 52 years. Later in life, Big Mama (as she is affectionately called) began working diligently at Kids R’ Kids for many years caring for all the babies in the infant room. Mother Jordan was an inspiration to all that knew and loved her. She served as a spiritual role model, a motivator, a wonderful mother, and grandmother. Most of all, Adlean, was a virtuous woman. Proverbs 31:10 states her admiration best: “ Who can find a virtuous wom an for her price is far above rubies.” On April 25, 2018, Mother Adlean Jordan transitioned from her earthly life into eternal life. Preceding her in death were: her parents – Melvin and Beulah Eli; Husband – Wilbert, Sr.; two children – Prince Ella and Wilbert, Jr.; Two Sisters – Irma Lee and Willie Mae Allen. She leaves to cherish her memories: Children – Vera (Booker), Frankie (James), Sandra, Priscilla (Don), Nathaniel (Sandra), Michael, Sr. (Rachel), Gregory, Beulah (Thomas, Sr.), and Vincent all of Houston, Texas; 56 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren and a host of great, great-grandchildren; Sister-in-laws – Dorothy Connaly, Rosa Goss and Addie Parker; Daughter-in-laws – Darlene Jordan and Verna Jackson; God-children – Jatara Bean and Vernon Jordan; Adopted Daughters – Thelma Youngblood, Lillie Lewis, Arden Jordan and Carolyn Groves and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
