Mr. Eric Haris

Eric (Ricky) Lee Harris was born in Albany, GA on September 4, 1961 to Rev. James Calvin Harris, Sr. and the late Maggie Jefferson Harris. Ricky joined the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Columbus, GA at an early age where his father was the pastor. He served as an usher and in various youth groups. He graduated from Hardaway High School in Columbus, GA in 1979 and later attended Meadows College and Columbus State in GA. Ricky was always competitive and had a passion for Sales. He worked as a Store Manager at Baker Shoe Store in Columbus, GA as well as SYMS Department Store in Houston, TX. He was a faithful member of The Church Without Walls since 2009 where he actively participated in the Lupus Ministry which later became a part of the Health and Wellness Ministry. Ricky was greatly admired by his family and friends for his sense of humor, wisdom, endurance, and perseverance. He loved the Lord as well as his family. Each day he demonstrated this by sending out a bible verse of the day, to his family and friends. Even when he was hospitalized for extended periods of time, he still found the strength to do so. He also compiled an annual photo calendar for the Harris and Green families which included birthdays, anniversaries, and favorite scriptures of each family member. These calendars were a key resource in aiding the family to remember and celebrate important milestones and dates. He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Jacquelyn Green Harris; father, Rev. James C. Harris, Sr., of Sugar Land, TX; 2 brothers, Tyrone Harris (Elzena), Sugar Land, TX and Rev. James C. Harris, Jr. (Stephanie), Katy, TX; 3 sisters, Martha McDaniel, Sugar Land, TX, Deliah Harris Robbins (Frank), Richmond, TX, and Jeanette Harris Ralph, Columbus, GA; father-in-law, Dr. Joe S. Green and mother-in-law, Josephine Reed Green of Boyce, LA; 2 sisters-in-law, Janice Green Washington (Sam) of DeSoto, TX and Jennifer Green Williams (Darrell) of Alexandria, LA; 4 Godchildren, Javaris Cooper (Chelsea), Fairburn, GA, Jorien Vallien, Alexandria, LA, Miante Watkins, Belleville, MI, and Alysa Harris, Houston, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
