Mr. Johvon Caston

Johvon Dwayne Caston, was born December 22, 1980 to John Henry Caston Sr. and Luella Atkins Caston. He was the baby of the Caston bunch. He was baptized at Greater Saint Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gusta Booker Sr., where he was a member until June 2016. While attending James Madison High School in HISD, he was a member of the Army Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps, where he received awards of distinction. After two years at Madison, Johvon went on to Alief Elsik High School and graduated in 2001. Upon graduation, he pursued a Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. In June 2015, he met the love of his life, Brandi Breedlove. They officially started dating in August of that same year and it was love at first sight. After a whirlwind love story, they were joined in holy matrimony on June 6, 2016. Johvon was a loving, devoted husband to Brandi and just as well as a devoted father to Karma and London. It was Johvon’s dream to have a family and children; He took the sanctity of marriage so seriously that he asked Brandi’s mother for her hand in marriage. Brandi in turn, asked his parents for his hand as well. When Karma tried out for basketball and made it, Johvon took it upon himself to be her personal trainer, mentor, and self-proclaimed coach; even buying a basketball goal for practicing her drills. Johvon fulfilled one of his dreams of fatherhood when he escorted London to the Father-Daughter Sweetheart dance for St. Valentine’s Day. Johvon was indeed a family man. For 18 years, Johvon pursued his carpentry passion. Following in his father and Uncle C’s footsteps, he started his own business called “Caston, The Handy Man.” He also worked for Tru Green for two years and had recently started working at USIC LLC in December 2018, prior to his death. Johvon served at the Tabernacle of Hope in many capacities, including the Vision and Sound Ministry, where he has been a faithful member since July 2016. Johvon had a love for a variety of things; he was very creative and truly enjoyed working with his hands. He would always say that all he needed was a board, a hammer, and a nail and he could build anything that you wanted. He appreciated the complexity of building things and had a solution for every problem, like the time that he tried to fix Hanson’s microwave with glue. In his leisure, Johvon loved racing cars, barbecuing, Blue Bell ice cream, going to the beach, debating, and bedliner (another one of his creations). He really loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them at every opportunity. He leaves to mourn him, his wife Brandi (Breedlove) Caston, children Karma and London Palmer, parents John and Luella Caston, mother-in-law Mary (Beulah) Breedlove, sister McRicka (Sean Baker), brothers John Jr. and Hanson Sr. (Arlithia Shanay Caston); nephews Hanson Jr., TreJohn, Haydon, Jontrel, and Curly; nieces Jacqueline, Joniyah, Sharay, and Roshay and a host of family and friends.
