Mrs. Katrina Lynette Smith

On April 12, 1980, a beautiful baby girl Katrina Lynnette Jackson-Smith was the first-born child to Dexter and Michelle Jackson. Katrina was such a happy child and filled her entire family with content. She was a natural leader and never let anything nor anyone bring down her spirit. Throughout Katrina’s entire life she was an extremely active person and was a part of the Booker T Washington Marching Band and played the clarinet and was an active section leader in high school. In addition to begin in the love with the band she also had a passion for learning, which soon lead to her career in the education field. Once graduating from Booker T Washington class of ’98, she attended The Prairie View A&M University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in education and a Bachelor of science. Upon graduating from PVAMU she was employed for 13 years with Aldine ISD at Carroll Academy and taught multiple grade levels until 2012 which she then transferred positions and finished off her career as a skills coordinator. Prairie View A&M University is where she found the Love of her life, Dameon Smith, whom she married May of 2003. To this union 3 beautiful children were born; Kaelynn, Emory, and Dameon Jr. “DJ”. At a very early age Katrina accepted Christ into her life. During her youth, she was a member of Yale Street B.C. and was very active in the youth program. Later, after being married she and her family moved churches and in 2006 they became dedicated members of Fallbrook Church but decided in 2015 to unite with The Luke until her health began to fail her yet still her faith allowed her to continue to worship through the comfort of her home. During her battle with her sickness, Katrina continued to trust God and smile with a spirit of gratitude with the life she was blessed to have. She is proceeded in death by her Grandmothers, Emo Jean Francis and Eunice Jackson, and Grandfather Taft Jackson Sr. Katrina leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband of 15 years, Dameon Smith; 4 children - Bryce, Kaelynn, Emory, and Dameon, Jr.; Grandfather-Clarence Francis; Mother- Michelle Jackson, Father- Dexter Jackson (Pat); Brothers- Dexter Jackson, Jr., Jamiel Shine(Jessica),& Jimmie Shine, Sisters- Kijuana Jackson,& Ebony Jackson, Mother-In-Law- Angiela Smith, Father-in-Law- Terry Smith; Brother- In-Law- Lyonel Smith (Laura) & Terrance J. Smith, Sister-In-Law- Terral Smith, Godmother- Sandra Kelly & and a host
