Mr. Frank Thompson,

"Frank Thompson, Jr. age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2013. He was born on June 20, 1933 in Jonesville, Louisiana to the late Frank and Susie Thompson. Frank was the youngest of three children. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Frank graduated from Catahoula Parish Training School in 1951. He went on to attend Southern University A& M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he obtained a degree in Agriculture in 1955. While at Southern, he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and retired as a Colonel. \r\n\r\nOn June 13, 1957, Frank married the former, Cloteal Jackson. They were married for fifty-four years, seven months, and seven days. To this union, three children were born, Freda, Michael, and Kevin. \r\n\r\nIn 1958, Frank joined Southwestern Pipe Inc, a subsidiary of Brown & Root , Inc in Quality Control. In 1970 he transferred to Brown & Root, Inc.. Over the 42 years of his employment, he served in many capacities including supervisor in the Safety Department, Senior Safety Coordinator and finally Director of Government Affairs. During his time at Brown & Root, Frank attended Rice University where he obtained an MBA. He retired in May, 2000. After retirement from Brown & Root, Frank established The Thompson Group and was a self-employed consultant. \r\n\r\nPrior to joining Bethany Baptist Church, Frank was a member of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church and New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. \r\n\r\nIn 1970, Frank and Cloteal, joined Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ernest Sibley and the late Pastor C. E. Carr. He was a faithful member for 43 years. At the time of his death, he served under the leadership of Pastor Steve W. Hall, Sr. While at Bethany, Frank was Chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Church Trustee Board, and Church Treasurer. \r\n\r\nFrank had a love for the community and for helping others. His community service achievements included being on the Council Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, President of Houston Gardens Civic Club, Precinct Judge 145 longest standing Precinct Judge in Houston Ã¢â‚¬â€œ 43 years, Chairman of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, Chairman of Texas Commission on Human Rights, and life member of Houston NAACP.\r\nHe also served as a delegate to the State Convention since 1972, the National Convention since 1982, a charter member of the Coalition of Black Democrats, and a member of the Harris County Democratic Party Executive Committee.\r\n\r\nFrank was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Cloteal Thompson, his son, Micheal Thompson, and two sisters, Annie Tucker and Ellen Mayes. He leaves to cherish his memories two children, Kevin and Freda, a nephew, Levi Tucker, godchildren: Charleen Townsel Samuel, II and Charles Hunter, II Courtney, Amara Townsel and Samuel Townsel III; god-granddaughters: Lauren Tuggles and Rayven Sanders along with a host of relatives and friends and the entire Bethany Baptist Church Family. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n"
