Mrs. Ora Catherine "Tutty" Polk Mouton

Remembering Ora Catherine “Tutty” Polk Mouton “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7 Ora Catherine Polk Mouton, affectionately known as “Tutty” was born on October 19, 1938, the only daughter of Conley and Leola Cobb Polk. She was a loving and exceptional child. She exceled both in school and home, catering to her parents and siblings through cooking and sewing. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Mouton on May 2, 1959. To this union four (4) children were born: Deidre, Penny, Donald Jr. and Kyle. Tutty was known to everyone for the care and pride she took in preparing meals. At the age of 10, she cooked her first meal for her family and has been bringing smiles and joy to anyone that stopped by her home wanting a great meal. She took joy in hearing what you thought about her meals. And when you called her on the phone, she wanted to know all about what you cooked or ate and the preparation that went in making that meal. Tutty was not only a caretaker to her biological family but to her church family and those who lives she touched. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the pastorage of Rev. A.R. Butler of Good Hope Baptist Church. She remained faithful under the leadership of present pastor, Dr. Ricky E. Carter. She has been a longtime member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she supported, cared and served until the Lord called her home. Tutty also worked outside of her home and church within the health industry. She was employed by Red Lerrille’s Health & Racquet Club for over 16 years and retired after 30 years of service from LARC. On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, she departed this life leaving many lasting memories with her four children: Deidre M. (Sam III) Jones of Garyville, Louisiana.; Penny D. Mouton of Lafayette, Louisiana; Donald L. (Melissa) Mouton, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kyle E. (Mickey) Mouton of Houston, Texas; 4 grandchildren; Kyla, Delana, Olivia and Princeton; great grandson, Jylaan; two brothers, Louis (Gertie) Polk of Garyville, Louisiana and Lennet (Verna)Polk of Lafayette, Louisiana; sister-in-law; Patricia Polk; 2 aunts, Esterina Dickerson of Lafayette, Louisiana and Ola Woods of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one uncle, Claymond Jeanlouis of Lafayette, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald L. Mouton, Sr.; her parents: Conley and Leola Polk; one sister: Gloria Polk; four brothers: Anthony, Conley, Paul and Donald Polk. Until April of 2018, Tutty never suffered with any health challenges; but the challenges she faced was with grace and an unwavering faith while trusting in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She never asked “why me” but relied on the assurance that her life was in the potter’s hand. Tutty’s life reminds us of the words of the Apostle Paul, who wrote, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Through outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2Corinthians 4:16-18)
