Shamunda Phillips Williams

"Shamunda Zonea Phillips was born in Houston, TX February 21, 1974 to Ronald and Marsha Jennings Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Phillips. She was enrolled in the Houston Independent School District having attended Burrus Elementary, Booker Telefaro Washington, Sr. High, and Sam Houston High School. Shamunda graduated with honors in 1992. \r\nShamunda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor George T. Curry, Sr. From the very beginning, Shamunda was an active member of Mt. PilgrimÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s youth department. She participated in a host of ministries including the City Wide, Mt. Pilgrim youth, and Independent Missionary Baptist Association of Texas choirs, as well as the youth usher board, Sunday school, youth meetings, drill team, and Mt. Pilgrim Debutante Pageants.\r\nShamunda married Ronnie Williams in 1997. She was employed with Harris County and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.\r\nShamunda was a very smart, outgoing, and independent young woman. She strived daily to live life to her greatest potential. Shamunda had courageous faith; always trusting and believing that the Lord would make a way somehow no matter what. This fact is indicative of her long, tedious battle with illness. Shamunda is truly an inspiration. Through the good and the bad, Shamunda never gave up. She continued to smile through it all.\r\nÃ¢â‚¬Å“Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all Ecclesiastes 9:11.Ã¢â‚¬Â\r\nShamunda is preceeded in death by her grandfather, the late Lovie Carlton, Jr., and her father Ronald Phillips. Shamunda leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Shakira Phillips and Destini Williams, her mother Marsha Phillips, sister Sheaundra OÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Neil, grandmother Mary Carlton, aunt Martha Glenn, first cousins Cicely Glenn BreÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Una and BraÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Nya and Stephanie Fields Kamryn and Kaitlyn, co-parent/ friend Ronnie Williams, and a host of loving relatives and friends."
