Mrs Shirley Mirant

A shining light has gone from this world to the next-Shirley Ann Chambers Mirant (fondly known as Missionary Mirant, Sister Shirley, and Momo). She was a devoted and loyal wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley Ann Chambers Mirant passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born June 29, 1946 in San Francisco, California. She was the daughter of Willetta Chambers Dabney and John Chambers. Shirley was raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She graduated from Washington Marion Memorial High School in 1964. Shirley attended Beaumont Business College and later moved to Houston, TX. Shirley worked with Southwestern Bell and dedicated 34 years of service until she retired in 2006. At a very young age Shirley accepted Christ. She was baptized at Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ in Lake Charles, LA. After moving to Houston, she joined Pentecostal Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, and where she met her loving husband Christopher Mirant. Later she joined Miracle Deliverance, where she became a missionary and was also in the choir. She was also a missionary at Glad Tidings. In 2010, Sister Shirley Mirant became licensed as an evangelist missionary under Lily of the Valley Church, and where she served as the leader of the hospitality committee. Some of her most treasured memories were from time spent with family and friends from her church. Shirley had a deep devotion to her family. She never missed a family event no matter where it was being hosted and could be relied upon to help family members who were in need no matter the distance. Shirley’s generous spirit and kindness knew no boundaries. She loved to smile and help people feel good about themselves. If you could have asked Shirley what her favorite things to do in life were, she would probably say - being with and loving her family, serving her Lord and her church family, praying, reading the Bible, talking on the phone, traveling, and playing crossword puzzles and computer games. Life was always a blessing to Shirley and her life was filled with much love and God's many blessings! Shirley was very grateful to God for giving her two splendid children Rhonda Jean Nobles Nelson and Renard Jerome Nobles, Sr., and a host of thoughtful and loving “adopted” children, extended family and friends, six grandchildren each of whom were very special to her. Although Shirley has left us physically, we will all be forever grateful for who she was and how she loved and touched us all. She will live in our hearts forever. Shirley was preceded in death by her father John Chambers, her stepfather Louis Dabney, and her first husband, Robert Benjamin Nobles, her stepbrother, Woody Dennis Hooker(Dorethea), and her daughter Rhonda Jean Nobles Nelson. She is survived by her mother, Willetta Cole Chambers Dabney, her husband, Christopher Columbus Mirant, her brother, Morris Chambers(Barbara) of Missouri City, TX, and her son Renard Jerome Nobles, Sr.(Aimée) of Missouri City, TX.; six grandchildren Jontrece Dominque Nobles (Trece) of Houston, TX ; Renard Jerome Nobles, II (RJ) of Atlanta, GA; and ShaRhonda Delaine Nobles (Shay) of Houston, TX; and Taleisha Shaunté Nobles(Tee) of Houston, TX, and Myles Brandon Nobles (Mickey) of Missouri City, TX, and Zoe Rey Nobles (Zo Zo) of Missouri City, TX, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
